Secure Daughters Confident Sons
How Parents Guide Their Children into
Authentic Masculinity and Femininity
Have you ever wondered what you can do on a daily basis to nurture your children’s God-given design and help them resist the pressure to conform to arbitrary cultural rules? Have you ever wanted to better understand your spouse? your kids? This book may be just what you are looking for.
Glenn T. Stanton is the director for family formation studies at Focus on the Family. He debates and lectures extensively around the country on issues related to gender, s*xuality, marriage, and parenting. Often sought out by national media to speak to these issues. Glenn is the author of several books and numerous articles.
In Secure Daughters Confident Sons, Glenn discusses why gender matters in how we, as parents, raise our children matters. He talks about breaking away from stereotypes and embracing the natural, healthy differences between boys and girls. Throughout the book, he points out that the differences do not make the male/female inferior/superior, but instead it makes them better suited for certain roles. Both are equally important.
Secure Daughters Confident Sons is clearly written from a male perspective which tainted the viewpoints slightly, but this is true of most books. Many times during my reading, I found myself nodding in agreement. There were even a few light bulb moments. Most importantly, I ended up walking away with a clearer picture of some of the things that make both males (boys) and females (girls) tick which will help not only as I raise my daughter to be secure in her femininity, but also how I view my husband’s different approach to parenting.

I received a copy of the above mentioned book from Multnomah to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. All opinions are my own.
Great review! I’d be interested in reading this book. I believe that when God created us male and female, He was complete in His creating. No mistakes. Period. I think it is very important to speak these truths to our children even if it goes against what is culturally popular.
