Pet Gifts from Hartz

Our “puppy” loves his toys, but he is also very hard on those toys.  If the toy has a squeaker in it, he’s usually going to find a way to get that squeaker out.  In the process, we usually end up with stuffing all over the floor.  Needless to say, we’re always on the lookout for durable toys that he will like.

When we received the Hartz® Dura Play® Ball and Tuff Stuff™ Nose Divers™, “puppy” immediately grabbed the Tuff Stuff™ Nose Divers™ duck. It quickly became his favorite toy. He carried it around. He tossed it around. He played a modified version of tug-of-war with it. When we come home, he grabs that toy and carries it around. If he forgets it upstairs, he’ll make an extra trip upstairs for it. (Side note: the only other thing that gets this honor would be his giant rawhide bone that he just carries around.)

I quickly found that it was very difficult to get a picture of him with his new toy. He was always in motion when it had it in his mouth. When he was resting with it, I would grab the camera to try to snap a picture, and next thing I knew he was bringing his toy over to play. Even though it was a little frustrating, I couldn’t help but laugh. I’m happy that he’s found a great durable toy that he really likes. It even has a squeaker that is still inside of it.

You may be wondering about the Dura Play® Ball that we received. “Puppy” liked the nubby ball, but he just wouldn’t stop playing with his other toy. This was one of those cases where I believe it would have been played with more if I would have given him the ball first. He really liked the loud squeak that the ball produced.

My Thoughts:

The Dura Play® Ball comes in two sizes – small and medium. The recommended retail prices for these balls are $2.49 & $5.29 respectively. The ball reminds me of a toy that Munchkin had when she was a toddler, and our “puppy” would always steal it from her. We had to quickly take it away, so he wouldn’t chew it up. While this ball seems more durable, I think he would have chewed right through in his younger days. It’s made of a washable foam-filled latex material. For now, it’s fine as he doesn’t do the same type of chewing. The squeak is quite loud, so you’ll want to keep that in mind. We don’t have an issue with the loud squeak, but I wanted to point that out.

The Tuff Stuff™ Nose Divers™ is obviously a favorite around here. It’s made of a durable, heavy-duty nylon shell with a twisted rope tail for tug-of-war sessions. The recommended retail price is $5.99. As stated above, this toy also has a squeaker, but it would be much more difficult to get the squeaker out of this toy than it would a traditional stuffed toy. If you’re looking for a toy that will hold up to lots of loving and play, the Tuff Stuff™ Nose Divers™ will most likely fit the bill. (No pun intended.)

As I know that some people are concerned with things from China, I do want to point out that these toys are both made in China.

If you would like to add one of these Hartz toys to your dog’s Christmas presents (or just surprise them with a new toy), you will want to head over to Hartz to pick up a printable $1 off coupon good for any Hartz toy.

I received the above mentioned products from Hartz as part of the MamaBuzz blog tour to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. All opinions and experiences are my own. Your experiences may vary.
