A Lovely Thanksgiving Day

Posted in Family, and Holidays

2010 Thanksgiving

We had a lovely Thanksgiving Day filled with fun, food, family, and relaxing.  I got up early to get the turkeys in the oven.  While I totally enjoy preparing a full feast for my family, I do not enjoy getting up early. lol!  Soon the house was filled with the tantalizing aroma of herb roasted turkey and all of the fixings.

Once the food was ready, Munchkin helped set the table.  We sat down and said our thanks and prayer.  Quickly the plates were being filled with delicious gluten free food.  All too soon, our tummies felt like they would burst.  We needed to take a break before eating our pumpkin pie.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to make the whoopie pies, but they weren’t missed.  I’ll just have to make them up another time.

I was very pleased with how everything turned out.  I finally have a delicious gluten free stuffing that doesn’t taste gluten free.  The pie turned out really well.  It was so creamy and smooth.  The crust, while not flaky, tasted great and got rave reviews from the family.

We wanted to get to bed early in preparation for the Black Friday sales, but, alas, that did not happen.  Munchkin and I were up at 5:30 to head over to JoAnn fabrics in search of the great sales on fabric.  It took us about an hour to finish there.  Thankfully, we didn’t have much waiting in line there.  People were actually in a good mood and friendly. I can’t say the same about other locations at which we stopped throughout the day today.

After JoAnn Fabrics, we made a quick stop at Walmart before heading home.  We woke D up and ate some breakfast before heading back out to Lowes and Home Depot.  We also stopped by the pet store as “puppy” needed some food.  We ran out yesterday – poor thing.

We’ve been munching on leftovers all day.  Munchkin and I are both exhausted, so we’re calling it a day and heading to bed.  I am grateful today that Munchkin wanted to keep me company this morning.  Then later, D and I got to spend a little time together while we picked up a couple of things for Munchkin for Christmas.
