Rust
James Moore, played by Corbin Bernsen, is a minister who has lost his way. With his faith on rocky ground, James decides to return to his hometown. What he finds is a town that is broken. The loss of a local family in a tragic house fire has shaken the entire community. The hope and light that this new family had brought to the town is now gone. Despair seems to fill the air. James is shocked to find that his childhood friend has confessed to setting the fire. He decides that something doesn’t seem right. In his quest for answers, he finds help, hope, and renewed faith from unexpected sources.
Rust is a lower budget production, but it’s a beautiful story of friendship and hope. You will want to watch the bonus features on the dvd to learn about the making of the film and see the behind-the-scenes footage. A small town, Kipling, helped Corbin produce this film. The actors in the film are from this small town.
Occasionally some of the acting was lacking, but most of the actors in the film did a wonderful job. Of special note is Lloyd Warner. Corbin did a wonderful job casting him in his role as James’ childhood friend. The truth is that he made the character of Travis special and memorable. The interaction between James (Corbin) and Travis (Lloyd) was simply enjoyable to watch.
While Rust may be a bit slow in development at times, D and I enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie. It was a nice, relaxing evening movie. After viewing the special features, we appreciated the film even more. It is rated PG due to some thematic content (such as the family dieing in the fire), smoking, and mild language. For most families, it would be a nice film for family movie night.
