Let’s Go Fly a Kite

Posted in Family

Munchkin and I picked up a really cute gecko kite on clearance at Target for just over a dollar.  When we went camping over Memorial Day weekend, the kite came along “just in case”.  Munchkin doesn’t remember ever flying a kite.  She did when she was younger, but apparently, she no longer remembers.  She was really looking forward to learning.

Hmmm... Now how does this string attach to the kite???

Daddy did a good job showing Munchkin what she needed to do, but the wind was not blowing quite enough.  Munchkin decided that would not deter her from flying her kite.

I will fly a kite... I will fly a kite...

There were several times that the wind did really catch the kite and spun it around and around.  This lead to a couple of long detangling sessions for mommy.  Once I got it detangled, she was back out there working on making it work.

Whoohoo! A small breeze is blowing!

She tried several times over the few days that we were out.  After she got the hang of it, she was able to try to do it on her own more often.

Kite 4
Just a little bit higher, just a little more wind...

She had a good bit of fun even if it never did end up soaring high in the sky.  Maybe next time…
