The Rewards of Simplicity: A Practical and Spiritual Approach
by Pam & Chuck D. Pierce
About the Book:
In today’s fast-paced, high activity and technology-driven times, Christians need to be empowered in living a spiritually and materially clutter-free life. Weaving biblical teaching with personal experience and practical tips, respected Charismatic leaders Chuck and Pam Pierce show how you can simplify your life, your house and your soul.
My Thoughts:
Pam and Chuck Pierce take a no nonsense look at simplifying our lives both physically and spiritually. Pam does most of the writing about simplification while Chuck comes in towards the end of the book and talks about stress, anxiety, and fear. The two parts of the book felt somewhat disconnected. In addition, the plethora of personal stories did not always tie directly into the topic being discussed.
Overall, I thought most of the information covered in this book was good, but there were several theological issues where I disagreed with the authors. I did like the emphasis placed on figuring out what type of simplification was best for each individual family and figuring out what the Lord wanted for those families. It wasn’t a one size fits all approach to simplification.
About the authors:
Pam and Chuck D. Pierce are ordained ministers and have been married for 36 years. Chuck serves as president of Glory of Zion International Ministries in Denton, Texas, and watchman of Global Harvest Ministries in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pam has ministered within the Body of Christ much of her adult life. She is currently a fourth and fifth grade teacher while maintaining the lively Pierce household.
