Fireworks over ToccoaFireworks over Toccoa
by Jeffrey Stepakoff

From reading other reviews, I thought this was going to be a good book, but I really, really did not like this book.  As a military spouse, I can not support or even recommend a book that romanticizes cheating on a deployed spouse.  There is absolutely nothing romantic about cheating on a spouse that is deployed!!!  I fail to see how this is a great love story.  In my opinion, a great love story is one where a couple stays together for years through good times and bad.

Another reason that I would caution other readers is the graphic lust scene (notice I did not say love – ’cause love had nothing to do with it…)

All that being said, there were a few things that I did enjoy about the story.  I enjoyed reading about the different types of fireworks, and how they were made.  In addition, we’re a Coca-Cola family, so I liked the different blurbs about Coke in the story.

Obviously, personal experience with military spouses cheating on their deployed spouse has tainted my view of this book.  I’ve seen the ramifications first hand for such stupidity.  It just wasn’t an enjoyable read for me…

I received a free copy of this book for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own. No other compensation was received. This post may contain affiliate link(s).

  1. I don’t get why something like that would be called a love story – like Bridges of Madison County. I hated that movie because it glorified adultery. So I would agree with you about this one.
