A Journey Through Learning offers beautiful, full color lapbooks and unit studies at affordable prices. Most of the lapbooks include a study guide so you and/or your student don’t have to search for the answers.
Munchkin really enjoys doing lapbooks as long as she doesn’t have to do too many at once. In other words, she prefers to do only one lapbook at at time. We have used lapbooks as complete studies by themselves or as review of what has already been learned.
With the Journey Through Learning lapbooks, I cut out the components and paper clipped them to the appropriate part of the study guide. Munchkin read the study guide and completed the matching lapbook component.
Munchkin liked the full color graphics and the flow of the study guide. She could clearly see which component went with each section of the study guide. There was even a guide to show placement of the components within the folders. (We decided not to use folders this time. We put them in a blank spiral bound book instead.) The directions were easy to understand, so she was able to do everything on her own.
We decided to start with the reptile and amphibian lapbooks. Munchkin loves all things animal, so it was a good starting point. She was pleased to learn a couple of things that she didn’t already know.
In the Reptile lapbook, Munchkin learned about the general characteristics of all reptiles and specific information about chameleons, crocodiles, lizards, turtles, and snakes. In the Amphibian lapbook, Munchkin read about the general characteristics of all amphibians and specific information about frogs, toads, salamanders, and caecilians.
Here are some pictures from the completed reptile lapbook.
I liked that the covers were blank scenes so Munchkin could personalize them. Munchkin did not want to draw the reptiles for the scene, so I decided to print out a bunch of pictures of reptiles and amphibians. She had to pick out the reptiles for the reptile cover and amphibians for the amphibian cover. I laminated the covers and animals. Now, the scenes can be interactive, and she can change them out as she wants.
The crocodile is not suppose to be that blue. The printer did something crazy with that one. Munchkin got a kick out of it, so we decided to leave it as is instead of reprinting that page.

We also received the Desert, Autumn, and Parables of Jesus lapbooks. Munchkin is looking forward to completing these over the next month or two.
We received the ebook (instant download) version of the lapbooks. I personally like the electronic lapbooks as I get them right away. I can print out all or only some of the pages. The lapbooks are also available in a cd version or a printed version. Prices range from $13.00 for the electronic version to $21.00 for the print version.
