Our Week at a Glance

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Thoughts

Well, homeschooling activities are once again in full swing. It’s funny how we homeschool to have more freedom, but most activities still seem to revolve around the traditional school schedule. The only thing that is different is the time of day that many of the activities take place.

This week, we’ll be starting up our 7 day study of weather. We’ll be continuing to work our way through the book of Luke. Munchkin will be doing her daily vocabulary word of the day as well as working on the vocabulary words that go with our weather unit. She is striving to learn all of her verses for Awana this week. Math is always the least favorite subject, but she’s plugging along. We’re on week 5 of our Presidential and State studies, so we’ll be focusing on James Monroe and California.

Monday and Tuesday will be our relaxed days. That means I’ll need to get most of the major housework done on these two days.

Wednesday, as long as Munchkin gets her school work done, we’ll be heading bowling with another homeschooling family. She will head to Awana that evening.

Thursday is normally homeschool physical education day, but this week they’re having a Not Back to School Bash at the beach. I haven’t decided if we’re going to attend yet.

Friday afternoon, I’m heading to the doctor’s office, and Munchkin is heading to a friend’s house. Then, we’ll be heading to soccer practice in the evening.

Saturday morning, Munchkin will have her league-wide soccer clinic. They teach all of the players the basics of the game. This lasts 2 1/2 hours, so we’re usually very hot and wiped out by the time it’s over.

We’re trying to do Wii fitness each day for at least 30 minutes. In the evenings, after she does her devotions, Munchkin is working her way through the Black Stallion series.

Sounds like a great week! We just ordered a Wii – you like the fitness program? Maybe that is how I could fit some exercise in if I could do it with the kids.
