Our United States Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

Munchkin wants to do a study of the states while we are doing the study of the Presidents. The plan is to study one state and one President per week. We discussed what she wanted to learn about the different states and made this lapbook. For more information about this lapbook and to download the templates, you can go to the completed United States Lapbook post.

We couldn’t find an image that we liked for the front cover, so we combined several images (in Printmaster) to create this cover.

We will be learning about each state individually. Each state booklet will contain information about the state capital, state bird, and state flower. I designed a state trivia that covers the state nicknames. We will be covering the seven regions of the U.S. There is a booklet for interesting facts that she comes across during her studies, and a booklet for “her state”.

In the center of the lapbook, we put the song “Fifty Nifty United States” to help Munchkin remember all fifty states.

Wow. Another winner! Your lapbooks are so pretty.

Is this correct — you put together the lapbook and then later fill it in as you study the various parts?

If so, how do you deal with errors? And isn’t it hard to write in the minis when they’re connected to the lapbook base?

I’ve decided to go with a 50 states notebook instead of lapbook. But I DO like your ideas here! Are these printables somewhere like the presidents ones?

With this lapbook and the President lapbook, I did assemble them ahead of time. The pieces would have gotten lost otherwise. lol! Plus, Munchkin liked having them all in the book.

On other lapbooks, we assemble after Munchkin has filled out the booklets. This also helps keep her from getting overwhelmed with all of the booklets. I only get out the ones that we’ll be doing that day.

Munchkin always uses pencil and erases if necessary, and yes, it’s more difficult when the minis are already attached to the base.

I sent the printables in for review, so we’ll see. 😉

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful resource. My boy’s are walking through the US using some of your templates you’ve shared through Homeschoolshare. We are also using your president templates as well. Thank you for blessing so many families with your creativity!

  4. Wow, I’m just happening on this now and I like it! We haven’t done a complete lapbook to date because well they are time consuming with all the nifty little add-ins but this is great looking! I am going to modify this to have the states license plates for the first ‘page’ on the flip books!
    Great job btw!

I went to the Homeschool Share website and was very excited to find your United States Lapbook which I started to download. I had to leave to make dinner hoping to return to download the rest of the lapbook pages. Upon my return, I click the link on your page and it takes me to a redirecting page on the Homeschool Share website. I have tried to do a search but can no longer locate the United States Lapbook which you posted. Is there anyway that you can help me locate the pages so that I can finish making your wonderful lapbook?

    Thank you.
