Preparing for Shark Week

Posted in Homeschooling

We enjoy watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel every year. Sunday begins Shark Week for this year. Instead of just watching, we decided to make a mini unit study out of it.
Munchkin is really into sharks; she has been since she was quite little. My sister was really into sharks growing up, so I’m use to the shark frenzy. I have to admit that sharks are quite intriguing.
Today, we started our preparation by picking up a stack of books from the library; we’re still waiting for a few more to come in. We’re studying about sharks in general as well as about specific sharks. One of the books we’re waiting on is a book about how to draw sharks. Munchkin is looking forward to this book as she loves to draw.
We’ll be completing a free shark lapbook as well as using some resources from learning page and enchanted learning. The Discovery Channel has a bunch of shark activities and information on their website as well.
