Our Weekend

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

On Friday evening, homeschool baseball season began. Munchkin met her new coach and her teammates (currently all boys), and their first practice of the season began. We had absolutely beautiful weather. It was in the 70s.

Saturday morning, we woke up to 40 degree weather. We bundled up and headed over to the game field for their baseball clinic. From 10 – 12:30, I froze as I stood their encouraging the team as they learned their new skills. Gusts of wind kept us parents chilled to the bone. The kids were having fun and staying semi warm. Munchkin also found out that there should be another girl on her team starting next week.

After the clinic, we headed over to a local farm to pick up our pork share. It was our first time at this farm, and we look forward to spending more time over there exploring once the weather warms up. The farm is run by a homeschooling family, and they encourage you to look around. They have farm fresh eggs, milk, chickens, turkeys (in the fall), pork, beef… I have a feeling that I’m going to enjoy slowly filling our freezer with this delicious meat. Won’t D be thrilled when he gets home?

Sunday, I woke up feeling very ill. Both Munchkin and I had horrible headaches. Thankfully, hers went away as the day passed. Unfortunately, my headache only got worse throughout the day and into the night. I spent a good part of the night in the bathroom quite ill due to the severity of the headache. I was finally able to fall asleep at 6:00am. Munchkin got me up at 7:30 am.

I’m not feeling all that grand today, but the headache is just a dull headache now.

We were able to get the schooling done in a short period of time as Munchkin was willing to work hard. I was very grateful for this as I just was too tuckered to try to push her to get things done.

Last week, Munchkin completed her end of year testing, so we’re just wrapping things up for this school year over the next couple of weeks. Unless we hit a brick wall, we’ll be done with this school year ahead of schedule and before her birthday. I can’t believe she’s almost 9. **gasp** Who said she could grow up so quickly?
