Enjoying Nature

Posted in Thoughts

This week has been an interesting week which has lead to very little blogging on my part. Between a little accident (me, cutting finger to the bone) and sickness (Munchkin and I), we’ve pretty much been laying low. Typing was a difficult and painful task, so I just didn’t do it unless I had to (gotta keep “talking” to my beloved). I was able to vote (absentee ballet) and do our taxes which are things that needed to get done.

On the bright side, the weather has been beautiful this week. We’ve been able to open the windows in the house, and Munchkin has gone outside every day just to “relax”. Today, we had a task at hand. Munchkin gave away her old sandbox before we moved, so we needed to build a new sandbox for her.

We had scrap lumber left over from building the deck as well as screws, so the cost was minimal — only the cost of the sand to fill it. Together, we put together a simple square sandbox with little “seats” in the corner and filled it up with sand. I had forgotten how heavy the bags of sand were and wasn’t thinking about my finger when I agreed to do it today. (ouch!!) Alas, we still had fun.

Now, I sit outside on the deck watching her happily play in her new sandbox. Some dinosaurs had to join her to make it more fun. The birds are chirping merrily and a gentle breeze blows. I’m thinking about what we’ll be planting this year, and how I’ll do a little landscaping around the deck this year. Ah, what a little bit of warmth and spring air can do for the soul.

I’m not naive enough to think that winter has passed, but for now, we are enjoying the weather and the sounds of nature…

Oh dear! I hope your hand (finger) feels MUCH better soon! It sounds like it hurts!

Sandboxes are so much fun! I am glad to see that older children enjoy them too-gives me hope that ours will be used for years to come! 🙂

I hope your finger is healing quickly. Sounds very painful!

We had nice weather for one day (62!), but then it snowed again last night. I’m SO ready for spring this year.

Oh man! Sounds like both our homes needed some on-hand nurses. Hope your finger is healing quickly!

I have to heartily agree that the sunny and warmer days really do so much for the soul. Soak it in!

Ouch! Glad its doing better and praying for a quick and complete healing for you. We too have had some lovely spring type weather here and had our windows open…I even went and sat by the edge of the pond yesterday to watch ducks…then we had a few raindrops but nothing bad. Your sandbox sounds like a really neat project…I’m impressed!

Heather I pray that your finger will heal quickly, did you have to get stitches?
Sounds like the sandbox was just what the two of you needed although it hurt your hand putting it together it is something she will remember for a long time.

Have a blessed week and give yourself time to heal.

    Your SS
