Marriage Monday: Challenge Week 3

Posted in Christian Life

Aren’t you glad that there is a wonderful thing called forgiveness? Forgiveness from God — the ultimate forgiveness and forgiveness from other — the forgiveness that makes life livable.

This week has been filled with a few ups and downs. Overall, I did well at meeting my goals, but the fact of the matter is I also had some slip-ups. I won’t offer any excuses because in reality those don’t matter. All that matters is that I messed up and sought forgiveness.

Because of all of the craziness this week, it was more difficult to focus on making sure that I had food for D always ready. It took more time and energy than normal, but there was always something for him.

I did get cranky a few times (and even did a “grrrrr!” a time or two), but thankfully, D is really good at making me laugh and “get over it” quickly. I am so grateful for his patient and forgiving heart when I do fail him.

This week, I’ll be continuing to work on honoring my husband in all that I do:

1) Have meals ready for him or prepared for him to grill when it’s time for each meal. I need to have something in mind when I hear “what’s for dinner?”

2) Honor him in all that I say and do. I am setting an example to our daughter of how she should treat her future husband. I want her to know the Biblical way that woman are suppose to act towards their spouses. If I say one thing, but my heart or actions show another thing, I am not truly honoring my husband.

3) Continue to keep our house “under control” which means staying on top of cleaning and laundry. We have more company coming today (munchkin is totally excited), so with each person comes more responsibility and joy.

4) Make sure that my relationship with Christ is where it needs to be. If I am not spiritually at the right place, it makes it very difficult to get my earthly relationships on track.

It is VERY important to me to be an example of a Christian, Godly wife to my daughter. They learn so young… Great goals!

I hear you on #2!! I am aware even in the midst of a tirade that I am the only example of a godly wife Maddy has. Ooooh, that’s tough!

And I have made it a point in the past year to seek forgiveness quickly. It makes a huge difference for both of us.
