This week, as I start to write this post, I find it difficult to really get into the thankful spirit. Yet, I know that being thankful is not an emotion, but a decision that I must make. Once again, thank you Iris for hosting Thankful Thursdays to remind us to be thankful for all that we have in our lives.
I am thankful that we were able to spend a long weekend with my husband before he had to leave again. Originally, he was suppose to be gone for a month straight.
I am thankful that I was able to finish stripping the floor, so he could install the laminate while he was home.
I am thankful that we have this new home even though we’re not living here yet.
I am thankful that my husband has job security through the military. It’s not an easy life, but we have a sense of security.
I am thankful for the good bunch of Marines that my husband is currently working with. It’s much better when he’s working with a good group of men and women.
I am thankful for a beautiful little girl who loves and adores her Daddy. I am thankful that she understands that he must be away sometimes even though she does not like it.
I am so thankful for my Heavenly Father who blesses me with the strength and comfort that I need day in and day out. I am thankful that He is with me in the evenings even when my husband can’t be beside me.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Lovely thankfuls!
God Bless!
Beautiful post, praying for your family.
Good post! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I am glad with you that your hubby was able to come home over the weekend. Especially since you just moved into a new home. Although the projects in a new home are fun, it is also very tiering.
I am sure that military life is not easy, but your husband works at a job he loves. Great that he has people around him he enjoys working with.
It is wonderful to turn to our Heavenly Father when we are lonely.
Thank you for sharing your thankfulness with us this week. I know some days we don’t ‘feel’ thankful. I know it is true for me 🙂
Blessings to you and your family…

Beautiful list Heather! I detect some loneliness and I sure don’t blame you. My Hubby and I haven’t been away from each other much in our almost 24 yrs. together. I will pray for you and your daughter.
Blessings to you!
I wrote a post today where I shared one thing that I’ve been thankful for throughout my life, so I decided to link it up, too.
You are so right that it’s all in the way we look at things–I love what you said about your husband’s job.
Sounds like some very good reasons to be thankful!
I am thankful for your husband in serving his country, and for you, to support his career and “deal” with the times that he needs to be gone.
You daughter is going to be so proud of him. She might not realize it now, but she will. It’s an amazing feeling. 🙂

Great post!! Great verse!!
I love the verse that you added to the list. That’s beautiful. I’d love to start prayer with that every day. Maybe I will…
Your family is beautiful!!
I’m thankful for YOU, for keeping things together at home and for the sacrifice YOU make so that your beloved husband can defend our nation…adding you to my prayer list, sweetie!!
Thank you for your list. I’m also thankful for your husband and men like him who work so hard to defend our freedom. You wives and families who sacrifice time with your family and work so hard to support them are also crucial to that effort. Thanks for your part in that, and thanks for visiting my list.
You are so right when you say Thankfulness is a decision, not an emotion although when we feel thankful we usually feel happy and relieved about something(s).
You have a great list and as a daughter, wife, sister of military or former military I THANK your husband and you!
I too, am thankful for the security the military has provided for my first years of marriage. It has been a tremendous help to not have to deal with how to pay medical bills, etc…
I am praying for you and your devildog. 🙂
Beautiful post and I want you to know that our family is so thankful for your husband’s service! We really do appreciate your sacrifice as well as his.
Blessings~
Great post. I can’t imagine all that you are handling while your hubby is away. I know it has to be very difficult at times. You are doing a wonderful job.
