Tackle It Tuesday: The Floor

Posted in Homemaking

It’s time for another edition of Tackle it Tuesday. To see what others are tackling this week, head over to 5 Minutes for Mom. The results from last weeks tackle it Tuesday painting edition can be found here, here, and here.

This week, I’ll be starting to tackle the removal of the 4 layers of vinyl on the kitchen floor. I’m going to do my best to get it done before D gets home for his few days of break (before heading away for more training). The plan is to install laminate flooring during his break. We’ll see if we’re able to tackle it all.

The plan is to take it from this:
To something like this: But this week’s tackle is actually two-fold, as munchkin is really struggling right now with Daddy being gone. So, we need to have some fun. It’s suppose to be in the 70s today and tomorrow and sunny. Wow!! So, we’ll be doing some stuff outside including moving that big pile of mulch left by the tree being cut down. She loves doing things like this.
Did you know that 100 laughs is the equivalent to 10 minutes on the rowing machine? I think we all need to tackle laughing a little more this week. It’s good for the body and and soul.

I love that flooring. IT’s my understanding that you can lay that down on old stuff, but if you have several layers already I can see why you would want to go down to the bottom. Have fun today!

Tenn mom: we just happen to have a big job ahead. This is NOT a normal tackle. Thank goodness. lol!

Stacey: we’ve laid it before at another house over vinyl, but because it has 4 layers, the vinyl needs to be taken up. It comes down to a clearance issue for the appliances.

That is one BIG Tackle! Good luck with your project. It will look awesome in the end.
Tackling fun outside is my favorite project. If I can get my two to eat lunch we are going to tackle the same thing.

You have definitely been tackling a lot of projects! I’ve been admiring your painting projects and have been wondering if I am brave enough to go bold?? (and convince the husband, of course …) I did manage to convince him on the bathroom. I love my new colors. (photos on blog!) I love the red … please do share when you get all moved in!

We took our kitchen floor down to the subflooring a couple of years ago and laid peel and stick tiles to replace some old department-store style laminate tiles that were there when we moved in. It turned out to be a much bigger job than I anticipated, but the results were well worth it. I had allotted a couple of days of hard work and it took the better part of a week for us to do it! I can’t wait to see your results!!

Have fun doing something with your daughter too!

That project looks like it will have beautiful results.
Our children go through sporatic struggles with Daddy being gone, too. Sometimes having some fun together is a wonderful answer. And I agree with tackling laughing… we should be doing that daily.
    Thank for visiting me.

Whooo! I think I’d rather do the 100 laughs than redo the floor in my kitchen!

    Great job! 🙂
