In Honor of My Mom

Posted in Thoughts

This month, I’m remembering the passing of my mom 10 years ago. It’s hard to believe 10 years have passed since I said that last “I love you” and “goodbye”. It was a hard time, but also a happy time as a little over a month later, I said “I do” to my husband (who my mom adored). A little over two months later, my sister graduated from high school. My mom tried to hold on for these celebrations, but it was time to say goodbye.

My daughter never got to meet her grandma, but she asks about her often. I’m fortunate that I was able to spend a lot of time with her during illness. I gained a greater appreciation for everything that she had done for us. I got the opportunity to give back to her a little of what she had given to me.

As I remember her, I am asking each of my readers to please learn more about ovarian cancer. Click on the image and the various links in this post to learn more about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

See, my mom died at such a young age because she lost her battle with ovarian cancer. Breast cancer is well talked about while ovarian cancer slips through the cracks.

Ovarian cancer is very serious. By the time you start to have many symptoms, your cancer will most likely be at a later stage. Ovarian cancer can not be detected by a pap smear or any other test. It must be detected by an internal exam.

Please, remember to get your annual exam. Talk to your doctor about any symptoms that you may be having that are out of the normal. I know it’s not easy, but your life could depend on it.
