Valentine’s Surprises

Posted in Family, and Holidays

I love to leave little love notes for my husband and daughter. It’s fun to leave notes just because, but for Valentine’s Day (and other holidays), I love to leave notes all over the place. Imagine my surprise last year when hubby left little cards all over the place for me.

Once again, this year I decided to leave little notes and goodies all over the place. I was pleasantly surprised when I was informed that I wasn’t allowed to go back downstairs after I came up to bed Tuesday evening. Hmm…. Well, that lead to having to be a little more creative with note hiding. Munchkin told me exactly what I was allowed to do if I went downstairs — no lights were allowed, so I wouldn’t ruin the surprise.

Last night, we found out that D would be going in to work a bit later due to weather, so he planned on getting up a little later and taking care of munchkin’s surprise at that time. Well, when he woke up, he found out that the base would be opening later than expected, so he rolled over and went back to sleep (as did I). Next thing we know, we have a little munchkin jumping on us as she was so excited about Valentine’s Day and the snow outside.

Her one surprise never made it out of our room before she saw it. I had placed a small teddy bear with balloons downstairs with her card from me. On her door, I had made a cone filled with little surprises for her. She was so excited that she hadn’t even looked at it. She went back to her room to look at it. Then we all got dressed — D placed the frog Valentine’s balloon that we got for her outside of her room. She was plenty excited.

Downstairs we went to find all the little notes and surprises that awaited. Things were a little crazy as the day didn’t go as normal, so munchkin ended up telling me where I needed to go to find my surprises as she couldn’t wait. I had little notes and rolos hidden in all the spots that I normally go in the morning.

We ate our blueberry heart shaped muffins together which was a pleasant surprise since D was originally suppose to be at work. Well, a little while later, D informs me that he doesn’t have to go into work at all today because of the bad roads (ice topped with snow). Then, he’s a little disappointed as he planned on picking up a few surprises on his way home from work. Oh well, we’ll enjoy having him around.

D and munchkin are outside playing in the snow having a good time. I need to get to work on the rest of the food prep for today. It sounds like we’re going to have a really nice day!!
