Thankful Thursday

How many times do we take our homes and the things in our homes for granted? Are we grateful for the things that we have or do we want more? Are we satisfied with what God has blessed us with or do we feel that it’s not good enough? The truth is, if we’re willing to admit it, we all have been guilty of the gimmies. I thought I’d take the time today to really be grateful for the things in my home.

1. I am extremely grateful that I have a laptop computer. Having my laptop allows me the freedom to take my computer with me. I know I’m guilty of taking this for granted.

2. I am thankful for the comfortable bed that I sleep in each night.

3. I am thankful for all of my appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, fridge, microwave, chest freezer, and toaster). These “servants” make my life much easier. It wasn’t that long ago that these items were novelties. Now, we take them for granted.

4. I’m thankful for my bathtub. Now, those that know me know that I very much miss my soaker tub that we had at our last house, but I know that I still need to be grateful for what I have. So, I’m working on this one.

5. I’m thankful for central air and heat. Isn’t it nice to be cozy no matter what time of the year?

6. I’m thankful for the fireplace that we have right now. (I’ll be missing it at our next house). I love to curl up next to the fire. It’s so relaxing.

7. I’m grateful for all of the wonderful things that we have been blessed with throughout the house that help make our house a home.

I know that there are many things that I’m forgetting right now, but really, these are just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many things in our lives to be grateful for if we just take the time to look around. Thank you Lord for all the wonderful blessings that you have bestowed upon us in our homes.

Count Your Blessings
Author Unknown

Count your blessings instead of your crosses; Count your gains instead of your losses. Count your joys instead of your woes; Count your friends instead of your foes.

Count your smiles instead of your tears; Count your courage instead of your fears. Count your full years instead of your lean; Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.

Count your health instead of your wealth; Count on God instead of yourself.

I loved reading your list. I know we take a lot for granted. Many people are picking up the pieces of their lives after a tornado hit here, so the everyday things (like a bath tub) become very important =)

“How many times do we take our homes . . for granted” this was a lesson I learnt this week. I have a friend in SA who doesnt enjoy the same freedoms as I do. I pray for people all over the world who cant live thier own homes in safety.

You are blessed to have a laptop I love the way they are portable

Yes I love the 1900s but fact that we now have electricity is such a blessing

Oh – I love the poem. 🙂 Thank you for sharing it.

You are right – we take our homes for granted. I know I do. I am so thankful that I have all the appliances I have. I can’t see myself washing the cloths by hand…

Thank you for sharing your thankful list with us today.

Blessings on your afternoon and always…

Thank you so much for the excellent reminder. It is a shame that we often have to lose or go without something to appreciate it.

    Thank you so much!

You are SO right! So much we take for granted in the daily grind. We are so blessed. God is good above all and we are His kids, it doesn’t get any better than that! Have a fantastic weekend!
