Thankful Thursday: Support

Posted in Christian Life, and Family

Thankful Thursday

As I sat watching the Olympics, I thought about all of the support that these athletes needed to get to where they were at right now.  They needed family, friends, coaches, and colleges supporting them each step of the way.  They needed dedication and perseverance as they strove to accomplish their goal.  Shaun White didn’t stomp 2 runs and win the gold by sitting around idly watching others.  He was out there working hard.

This week, as I made the switch from hosting on blogger to my own self-hosted blog, I felt like I was competing in some type of race.  I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get to the finish at some points.  There were times that I came upon hurdles and didn’t know if I’d be able to cross them.

Thankfully, I had a great support team helping me achieve my short term goal.

My darling husband is the one who encouraged me to finally make the move.  He took care of things around the house while I worked on making the transfer.  He offered encouragement (and entertainment) as I struggled with different aspects of this whole different world.

Munchkin was wonderful about helping me out.  She provided laughs and adorable pictures.  She allowed me to work, and she provided welcome breaks.

I had several bloggy friends who offered guidance before the move as well as after.  I am so grateful for the wonderful friends that I have made through blogging.  I’m constantly amazed at the time, information, and support they are willing to give to others.  I am thankful for all of the supportive comments and emails.  You are all great!

Iris’s timely post “Do I Matter?” helped me to make sure that I was doing things for the right reason.  (I recommend checking out the post if you haven’t yet.)

And last, but certainly not least, the Lord provided the way for this all to happen.  I want my life, including my blog, to honor and glorify Him.  For without Him, I am nothing.

I have not finished this particular race.  I am still running.  Thankfully, I have many supporters cheering me on as I keep plugging along.

Two are better than one

Because they have a good reward for their labor.

For if they fail, one will lift up his companion.

But woe to him who is alone when he falls,

For he has no one to help him up.

~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ~

Rejoice with others as they share their Thankful Thursday post at Grace Alone.

  1. Yes! Thank God for sending us people who support us, especially through difficult times. Part of my TT post today is about that, too.

Your blog looks great: congratulations on making the move!

Thank you. I felt a little silly talking about this as a trial when there are so many that are struggling with more difficult things in their lives, but I also didn’t want to downplay how grateful I was for the support that I received…

  3. Support is necessary across the board in the little things and big things. Dealing with the military, you know that all too well, I’m sure. I work for a DOD contractor in a support role to over 400 employees and I know just how vital support is for ALL things! Great thing to be thankful for!

  4. I love that God cares about the little things and the big things and the things that seem insignificant to others but are giants to us. His love is pretty amazing! 🙂 Thanks for sharing. Blessings.

  7. Shaun White told the issue of his mother going his medal to get cleaned at the cleaners in his interview with Cris Collingsworth on NBC. It was very cool! White questioned his mom if there was a way they could get the ribbon clean as it had grown very dirty and his mother took the medal to the dry cleaners! White was amazed when she brought it back with the dry cleaning bag over top of it. He also thought it was hysterical that she complained about how much they charged her too.
