Special thanks to Intervine Technologies for providing a sample of their product for review purposes. No matter where you live in the country, you always need to be prepared for natural disasters. Throughout our time in the military, we’ve lived in places that have been hit with floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, mudslides tropical storms, blizzards, and a variety of other weather related situations. We’ve also lived in areas where the power went out on a regular basis for no apparent reason. Because we’ve been through all of these situations, we’ve found it important to have a variety of different lighting devices…

Special thanks to Gurin for providing a sample massager for review purposes. We’ve been pretty busy around here between getting ready for Munchkin’s graduation and getting our place ready for spring. Since we don’t have a tractor, hauling dirt and composted manure for the garden is all done with a shovel and dump cart. It’s rewarding but tiring work. We often end the day with aching muscles. Some days are worse than others due to the amount of work that needs to be done. I’m constantly amazed at how much work homesteaders get done in a day. We’re not full…
Review: MeasuPro OX100 Pulse Oximeter

Special thanks to the company for providing a sample of their product. Why would I want to use a pulse oximeter at home? Quite simply, it’s nice to keep an eye on our resting pulse, so we can figure out are target heart rate during exercise. It’s also good to know if that resting heart rate is too high, so we can take measures to try to correct it or get to the doctor if it’s too elevated. Because I have asthma, it’s nice to be able to keep tabs on my blood oxygen saturation levels. The MeasuPro OX100 Pulse…
Back in October, you may remember that I had the opportunity to test out the Brieftons Spiral Slicer. It was a hand-held unit that was nice and small, but it had a good bit of waste like other spiral slicers with that particular design. Well, I recently was given the chance to test out the larger, more versatile Brieftons Tri-Blade Spiral Slicer. I have to admit that I wish this spiral slicer came in red as the green just doesn’t fit with my kitchen, but that’s just a personal preference. The unit itself is well thought out. I did run…
Canning with AYL® Silicone Gloves

I really like my silicone oven mitts, but they don’t work as well for tasks that require me to grab something smaller. Right now, I’m doing a lot of canning, so I needed something that would allow me to safely turn the knobs on my pressure canner as well as grab jars, if necessary. Since my silicone oven mitts worked for the heat aspect (just not the small detail aspect), I knew that I wanted to test out some silicone gloves. I was happy to receive the AYL® silicone gloves to test out in my kitchen. The AYL® silicone gloves are heat resistant…
