Special thanks to the company for providing a sample for use in my kitchen. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like making julienne cuts with a knife. For whatever reason, it takes me forever to make those fine cuts. When I saw that a vegetable peeler could also julienne, I was quite interested to see how well it worked. I knew the key would be whether or not the blades were sharp and whether or not it was a sturdy unit. I normally use a vertical vegetable peeler, so there was a little adjusting to using a horizontal…

Special thanks to the company for providing a sample product for me to test in my kitchen. It’s no secret that I love my kitchen gadgets. While I can get by without all these fun things, they really do make my life much easier. Even though I am drawn to all kitchen tools, I try to limit myself to things that I know I’ll use as there is only so much space in the drawers/cabinets. For that reason, I had never tried a potato ricer even though I had seen them on different shows and thought they looked cool. Well,…
Special thanks to Smart Weigh for providing a sample of this product for review. I resisted the whole measure-by-weight baking thing for quite some time, but recently, I’ve started to get on the band wagon as I’ve realized what a difference it can make in the consistency of the finished product – especially with gluten free baking. It’s amazing how much the weight of flour can vary from brand…
Review: Brieftons Spiral Slicer

I’ve been fascinated by spiral slicers since I first saw one, but I had never used one until recently. The Brieftons Spiral Slicer is a hand-held unit that has two different julienne sizes – one on each end. The unit also comes with a finger tip guard that grips the vegetables. A small brush helps clean out the hard to clean places in the spiral slicer. I love the idea of easily being able to make delicious veggie noodles. As soon as it arrived, I jumped into trying it out with zucchini and carrots from our CSA box. The Brieftons…
Review: Super Flex Silicon Oven Mitts
Posted in Reviews
We’ve tried a variety of oven mitts and holders for our cast iron cookware, but none of them completely worked with the heat generated from cooking with cast iron. The regular oven mitts didn’t protect our hands well enough from the heat while the silicone handle sleeve only worked for a little while before becoming too hot to touch. The only thing that we had that remotely worked was pot holder than had silicone on one side and padded fabric on the other, and it’s a pain to keep clean. The Triumphant Chef Super Flex Silicone Oven Mitts are food…
