Tackling a New Homeschool Schedule

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Photography

Project 365: #032 D was cracking up when I started taking pictures at the airport – especially when he saw that I was taking pictures of the cabs.  I just thought they were much nicer looking cabs than you normally see driving around.  Yes, sometimes I can be a bit odd.  That tends to happen when you’re waiting for a delayed flight to arrive.  lol!  What does this have to do with today’s post?  Not much.  I just think it’s bright yellow color is rather cheery.  **grin** I didn’t end up getting as much done yesterday as I had originally…

Finding Balance

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Thoughts

This week, Munchkin will be wrapping up her current school year.  Homeschooling year around can make it difficult at times to really judge when one year ends and the next year begins.  This time, we’re using her main subjects as our guide.  If she completes all her work as planned this week, she’ll happily enjoy a week off from school next week. I’m using this current time to evaluate how I did as a teacher and mom over this past year.  I’m making a few adjustments in how I handle things, and I’m putting my expectations of Munchkin in writing.…

Catching Up

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, Military Life, and Thoughts

Sadly, it’s been way too long since I’ve posted. We’ve been busy with different activities and unfortunately, some illness over the past month. November Highlights: November 4th was the Marine Corps Ball. Munchkin attended with us for the first time this year. It was wonderful watching the ceremony through the eyes of a child. The waitstaff was wonderful and made her feel like a princess. They brought her all of her own special food (even though that wasn’t part of what was “required” of them). All in all, it was a wonderful evening. You can see our picture on the…

Cicis Fieldtrip

Posted in Homeschooling

Now, this was a yummy, fun field trip. We started off the day with a tour of the facilities. They showed us their large dough mixer where they make all of their own dough. Then, the showed us a VERY large freezer where they store the dough. They use the same dough for their pizzas, breadsticks, and cinnamon rolls. They just add the different ingredients. A gentleman in the back was getting the dough ready for some cinnamon rolls and breadsticks. Then, we went over to the pizza making area. They showed the group the dough press (no tossing pizza…

Study of Joshua: Crossing the Jordan River

Posted in Homeschooling

Right now, we’re studying the book of Joshua. This week, we’re studying about the crossing of the Jordan River. Once the people of Israel crossed the Jordan River, God instructed them to build a memorial. We decided to build our own memorial by writing the name of the 12 tribes of Israel on 12 different stones. Once Little Song Bird had written all of the names on the stones, she assembled her memorial and I hot glued the structure together. We were pleased with the end result.
