A Day in Our Homeschooling Life

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

We’re not very big into strict schedules at our house, but we definitely have some regular routines in place that keep things moving along smoothly.  I try not to have activities during our regular school hours when possible.  I had planned on actually blogging our day today, but Munchkin woke up sick.  We’re having a sick day which means cuddling, watching some tv, and reading. Our normal routine looks a little something like this… D gets up between 5 and 6 to head to work.  After he gets up and goes to work, I go back to sleep until Munchkin…

Another sign she’s growing up…

Today, I had to run out and pick up our Azure Standard order from the semi-truck delivery location.  Munchkin requested that she be allowed to stay at home, so she could complete her school work instead of riding along with me.  Since I knew that I wouldn’t be gone long, I agreed to her request. When I arrived home, Munchkin immediately helped me unload all of the food and verify that we had received everything that we had ordered.  She helped me get everything organized and put away. After everything was put away, I made her lunch, and she informed…

This, That, and a Smashed Finger

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

How’s that for a crazy title? On Saturday, while helping D work on his truck, I smashed my finger, so I’m trying to type without the use of my index finger.  Not an easy task. lol!  My finger is red, black and blue and swollen.  The swelling is starting to go down some, so hopefully, I’ll be able to use my finger again in the near future. D and I are praying about some decisions in our lives right now, so that has really been our focus for the last few days. I’m working on getting a few projects done…

Saying Goodbye to My Grandpa

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

Many miles away, my family is holding the memorial service for my Grandpa.  It’s a small, graveside funeral.  People are sharing stories, memories.  Tears are being shed.  Hugs are being given.  Laughter and sorrow will be mixed together.  It’s a bittersweet day for all. You see, my Grandpa has been ill for some time.  He had many ups and downs.  He was a fighter, but even fighters eventually must rest.  He is now eternally resting.  We all knew that this day would come, but saying that final goodbye is not easy.  I will chose to focus on the positive today.…

Sunny Summer Days

Posted in Family, and Homemaking

It seems that lately Munchkin and I are making the most of our summer afternoons by working on various craft and sewing projects.  She’s still having fun playing on the Wii and playing outdoors with her friends, but almost every day, we’re doing some little project together. I’m so enjoying this time together with her and the chance to talk with her without outside distractions.  I’ll be posting some of these projects as time allows.  She wants me to show off her latest projects – God’s Eyes.  Lord willing, I will pictures of them along with instructions tomorrow. D has…
