Cougar Crest Trail Hiking in the Snow

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

I woke up to a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning. The windstorms had passed and left behind gorgeous weather. I look into the distance and see the snow-capped mountains. The snow-covered peaks of Big Bear were calling out to me. I finished up my outdoor chores and head in to let D know that it was time for a road trip to the mountains to do some hiking in the snow. Once D saw the mountains, he agreed that we needed to do a little hiking in the snowy mountains. We weren’t sure exactly what our destination would be once we…

Family Rock Climbing at Desert Rocks

Family rock climbing is a fun way to spend time together while incorporating fitness into our routine. A little extra time off for the kiddo and husband meant we got to do a little more climbing this past weekend. We decided to try out a rock climbing gym that we had stopped by a little while ago. I quickly learned that I enjoyed the challenge of climbing. While you climb with others, it really is an individual challenge. As a beginner, you don’t have to be better than the next…

Family Fitness: Slow and Steady

Little did we know at this time last year that D would be going through two back surgeries in one year. I don’t think any of us really understood how much this would impact our lives. Yes, we knew there would be changes, but the extent of the changes weren’t really grasp until we were actually in the trenches going through the process. Now that we are finally through the worst of it (in theory), the rebuilding is beginning. D’s surgeon said that coming back from back surgery once is tough and twice is even harder for a “normal” person.…
