Major James Matthew Weis, USMC 1972-2010 On Thursday, July 22, 2010, Major James Matthew Weis, USMC, 37 was killed during combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based in Camp Pendleton, CA.
