Munchkin learned how to make these while she was at VBS this year. She enjoyed it so much that she requested that we pick up some wooden dowels in order to make more at home. We just used some yarn that we had on hand, so these were a very inexpensive art project. Munchkin is demonstrating how to make the God’s Eyes in the collage below. You take 2 wooden dowels and cross them. Taking the end of the yarn, you tie a knot around the center of the X. You make a single loop around the first dowel. Continue…

Handmade Nature Journal

Munchkin really loves drawing and nature, so it is only natural to want to combine the 2 activities. We never seem to be able to find a nature journal that is “just right” for her. Project Supplies: Cardboard (8 1/2″ X 11″ or desired size) Scissors Tape Glue Dots Scrapbook paper Loose leaf rings Hole punch Filler paper (plain or custom) The Project Details: 1. 11th Birthday Preparations: Part 1
Posted in Homemaking
It’s hard to believe that by the beginning of next week our little Munchkin will be 11. I’m not sure how that happened. She’s still our little girl, but she’s growing up… Munchkin hasn’t had a birthday party with friends for quite some time, so we decided that this year she would get to have a birthday party. When we were at the thrift store several months back, we found an American Girl Mystery party game. We knew that we would use that for Munchkin’s birthday party. Since there were only so many parts for the mystery party skit, it…
When Munchkin found out that a young friend of hers was going to have a birthday, she thought about what would be a cool gift for him. She decided to make him something out of polymer clay. She ended up making a truck and a shark, but she didn’t have the perfect container to put her gifts in. We found some small empty boxes and pulled out the scrapbook paper. After we took apart the boxes, she picked out paper that would go with the gifts, and we carefully traced the box shape onto the paper. We taped the paper…
Valentine’s Day Party and Crafts
Posted in Holidays, Homemaking, and Homeschooling
At the homeschool Valentine’s party, Munchkin and her friends had fun doing several different crafts. The mom who pulled together all of the crafts did a great job. The Candy iPod was a huge hit. They all decided that their new iPods played sweet music. You can find the instructions for these here. Some of the other crafts included painting rocks, fingerprint heart cards, and heart rubbings. The kids each made a Valentine card to be delivered to local shut-ins. They had fun passing out their Valentines to each other. We had them line up the bags/mailboxes/boxes on the sofas,…
