Willis Creek – Slot Canyons

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Today’s journey took us to the Willis Creek hiking trail which contains a beautiful stream and slot canyons.  Munchkin is still under the weather, but she’s able to do some hiking.  Right now, we’re sticking to easier trails.  This trail involves the possibility of getting your feet wet as hikers cross back and forth over the stream through the canyons.  The beautiful slot canyons made for a nice hike. In the next post, I’ll tell you about our fun dinosaur track adventure.

Delicious, Family-Friendly Low Sodium Meals

When we head out camping, we normally have very little space for storage of food and seasonings.  We love lots of flavor in our foods, and we don’t want to give up flavor even though we’re camping.  To make things easy, D likes to take his “all purpose” seasoning, Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb, with us.  It works for chicken, steak, eggs…  It gives that punch of flavor that we like without needing lots of different seasonings. As the fire dies down, Daddy stirs the coals.  Munchkin grins as she knows what’s coming when the coals are ready. Mommy heads to get the marshmellows, chocolate, gluten free graham crackers, and roasting sticks. The embers glow and a hint of excitement fills Munchkin’s eyes.  It’s time for smores.  We…

Thankful Thursday: A Safe Journey

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

On Friday morning, we set out on our adventure.  The temps were already climbing, but we knew that the location where we were heading was going to be cooler.  I set Munchkin up with a fun travel kit (more to come about that at a later date), and I packed a snack container filled with delicious snacks to eat.  All went well on our journey to the campground.  We picked out a nice wooded location and set up camp. The campground that D chose had trails all through the campgrounds.  We were up on a mountain in the forest.  The…
