Our Week at a Glance

Munchkin decided at the last minute that she’d go to Vacation Bible School (VBS) this week (as in 10-15 minutes before we needed to leave the house). The church is doing Son Harvest. She really enjoyed that today, and she’s looking forward to the rest of the week. They’re having a coloring contest, so she worked on coloring that this evening. This week in school, we’ll be studying Jesus’ parables. We’re using free handouts from Calvary’s Chapel to supplement our Bible readings. We’ll be starting a new unit and lapbook about plants. Munchkin will continue with her normal math studies.…

Back to School Giveaway!

5 Minutes for Mom wants to help make your back to school preparation easier. This week they will offer product reviews and giveaways to make our back-to-school season easier. And what about those preschoolers left at home when the big kids go back to school? They’ll have something for them as well. The Back-to-School Giveaway Event will take place right here from August 4 – 10. They’ll leave all the posts open through August 12, and then post the winners on August 13.

Book Sale Finds

Today, Munchkin and I headed over to our local library’s monthly book sale. We’ve never gone before, and boy, were we missing out!!! We walked over to the checkout with this HUGE stack of books. We walked away only spending $14. Wow! One very nice book is missing from the picture as I’m going to be using it as a gift for someone. All of the books are in excellent condition. Plus, we picked up several outdoor magazines for free (not pictured) that we’ll be using for their pictures. Needless to say, I do believe that we’ll be heading back…

Periodic Table Lapbook

This lapbook is based on the book Fizz, Bubble & Flash!: Element Explorations & Atom Adventures for Hands-On Science Fun! We were able to pick this up from our local library, but it’s one that I want to add to our bookshelf! We picked out 3 elements from each group to put in the respective mini books. Munchkin wrote the name, symbol, atomic number, atomic mass, who discovered it, and when it was discovered. You could easily go really in depth with this lapbook, but we kept it simple. Today, we’ve declared Experiment Day!!! We’re going to have fun doing…
