Flooding at the Homestead: Part 3

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

Now that our claim was actually being worked on, we started to see some things begin to happen. The water mediator showed up at the house. He was shocked to see that we had done the entire demolition as this had never happened to him. Basically, all he had to do at this point was to set up fans and dehumidifiers. He said it was the easiest job ever for him. He actually felt bad that we had done all of that work and that it had taken that long for the insurance company to send him out. It wasn’t…

Flooding at the Homestead: Part 2

While many people may have skipped making Thanksgiving dinner when faced with our crazy circumstances with the flooded cabin, I felt it was important to at least enjoy that part of our day. The fire alarms had shorted out due to all of the water. We sprung into action. D turned off all the water in the house, and we started to sweep all the water out of the back of the…

Gluten Free Apple and Onion Stuffing

Being gluten free at Thanksgiving means that you either need to stick with naturally gluten free items or you need to do a little more planning. Since my family likes to stick with traditional Thanksgiving food, I need to plan ahead a little more when it comes to our stuffing. The preparation begins a couple of days prior to Thanksgiving since I need to make the gluten free bread and allow it to “stale” a little prior to making it into stuffing. Gluten Free Apple and Onion Stuffing Recipe Ingredients 1 stick butter 5-6 small carrots, diced 4 ribs celery,…
