Odd happenings in the desert…

Last night, the rain began to fall.  The soft pitter patter could be heard outside our window.  I love listening to the sound of rain, and that sound so often heard when we were on the East Coast is rarely heard here.  There is something soothing about falling asleep to that rhythmic sound. By the time we got up and around, the rain had stopped.  We took D to the airport and said the sad farewells.  Whether it’s a few days, a few weeks, or a few months, the goodbyes are never easy on Munchkin.  This time, he’s only gone…

Foto Friday Challenge: Circles

Munchkin felt that we couldn’t leave out these yummy pink gluten free cupcake circles from the challenge. They didn’t last long, so it was a good thing that I snapped a picture right away. While watching the Commandant’s Own, the Drum and Bugle Corps, we saw lots and lots of circles.  This particular picture was one that we really liked. Commandant’s Own & Silent Drill Platoon

Just a few pictures from Friday morning’s presentation.  I took so many pictures, but I had to narrow it down to just a few… We’ve enjoyed listening to the Commandant’s Own practice each day here on base.  It was great to be able to go watch both the Commandant’s Own and the Silent Drill Platoon.  We sat on blankets right by the parade deck.  The kids loved it.  The atmosphere is so different from the evening performance at 8th & I.

Foto Friday Challenge: Squares

Once again, we took to nature to find our challenge for this week ~ squares.  For the most part, I tried to find things that were a bit different than last week.  Other than the first photo, we found these items while we were out in the desert working on Munchkin’s dirt bike skills.  She does a few lessons, and then we look for things for the photo challenge.  It’s a lot of fun.
