Storehouse Foods Review and Giveaway

Posted in Gluten Free, Military Life, and Reviews

Storehouse Foods offers high quality, freeze-dried food systems with options for budgets of all sizes and expert advice on emergency preparedness. I was thrilled to find that they also offer a complete line of gluten free products. While I do believe it’s important to have products on hand for emergencies, my motive behind wanting these products has more to do with having easy to prepare and transport foods for D when he’s away at training or on deployments. We were given the opportunity to try out some of their gluten free products. When they arrived, D informed me that he…

Buffalo Guys Jerky Giveaway

Posted in Gluten Free, and Military Life

D really enjoys jerky, but it’s not easy to find jerky that is good and gluten free.  When I found out that Buffalo Guys had a gluten free jerky, I knew that I wanted to check them out.  I was pleased to see that not only did they have gluten free buffalo jerky, but they also supported our troops.  I love that!  I was excited to be able to sample some of their jerky. The jerky was full a flavor.  It was chewy and not tough.  Neither Munchkin nor I are real big jerky eaters, but we both thought these…

Commandant’s Own & Silent Drill Platoon

Posted in Military Life, and Photography

Just a few pictures from Friday morning’s presentation.  I took so many pictures, but I had to narrow it down to just a few… We’ve enjoyed listening to the Commandant’s Own practice each day here on base.  It was great to be able to go watch both the Commandant’s Own and the Silent Drill Platoon.  We sat on blankets right by the parade deck.  The kids loved it.  The atmosphere is so different from the evening performance at 8th & I.

I was reminded again today how grateful I am for these good friendships as Munchkin happily ran around with her friend while we stood and talked with her mom, our neighbor. Munchkin does her school work quickly and efficiently (most days), so she has time to get her chores done before her friends come over to play.  She has multiple girl friends here which has never happened in the past.  Most of her friends are Christians and homeschoolers.  Once again, that isn’t something…

My Story: Blogs by Four Military Teens Michelle D. Sherman ~ DeAnne M. Sherman Description: My Story: Blogs by Four Military Teens is a series of fictional blogs by four military teens that highlights their feelings and experiences before, during, and after parental deployment. It provides support and education for all military teens and pre-teens by honoring their unique joys and sacrifices, addressing their fears and hopes, and exploring how parental deployment affects their lives. Although the four youth in My Story are fictional, the stories are real—the blogs are a compilation of real life experiences of military kids we…
