The Young Scientist

Posted in Holidays, and Homeschooling

Munchkin enjoys science. She enjoys experiments and observations. When it came time for dissections, she was very excited. The catch? She really wanted Daddy to be her assistant. I offered to do the dissections with her, but she wanted Daddy. We’ve skipped over some of the dissections in the chapters until Daddy had a chance to sit down with her. Monday night, Daddy got home early. Munchkin was thrilled because they would finally be able to at least do one dissection. After we ate dinner, Munchkin and Daddy got their dissection area all set up. Unfortunately, our poor earthworm dried…

Munchkin & Math

Posted in Holidays, and Homeschooling

Munchkin has a love/hate relationship with math. Some days, she really enjoys it, and other days, well, she really hates it. She’s good at math, but she is also use to it being easy. As things get more difficult, she gets more frustrated. She’s also a perfectionists, so that can make math a bit tedious. Right now, she is having fun with an online math program, Mathetics, that is challenging yet fun. Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Outdoor Adventures

The Quartermaster Depot (QMD), a significant place in the history of the Arizona territory, was used to store and distribute supplies for all the military posts in Arizona, some in Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and Texas.

Giving Thanks Turkey Craft

Since I have decided to be part of the 30 Day of Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun if Munchkin joined in on the fun.  I created this workbox activity to allow her to easily participate with me. Each day, Munchkin will write at least one sentence on a feather about what she is thankful for that day.  We will add the feathers to our thankful turkey.  By the end of November, she will have a turkey with lots of feathers and a visual way to see all the things that we are thankful for this month. In case…

Military Working Dogs Field Trip

Posted in Homeschooling, and Military Life

Today, our base homeschool group was treated to a fabulous K-9 demonstration. The field trip began with the sound of sirens. A police vehicle was chasing down a pick-up that wouldn’t stop. The man got out of the truck and wouldn’t listen to the officer… We learned a bit more about the working dogs and their jobs including a brief history about military working dogs and their service to our country.  Did you know that these dogs are awarded medals just like their human military counterparts?  They can receive the purple heart if they are wounded in combat. We were…
