At 3:00 yesterday, Munchkin informs me that “tonight is 50s night at Awana, Mom!”  Oh, okay…  So, my mind begins to scramble and try to think what we can do for 50s night.  I go check my stash of fabric to see what I have available.  I decide to make a poodle skirt. Gluten Free Oatmeal Breakfast Bars Ingredients: 1/2 C butter, melted 1/2 C honey 1/2 C brown sugar 3 C gluten free oats (substitute Bob’s Red Mill Mighty Tasty GF Hot Cereal if you can’t do oats) 1 1/2 C buttermilk 1 Tbsp cinnamon (use less if you don’t like cinnamon as much as we do) 2 eggs, beaten 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 1 C raisins, dried fruit, chopped apples, nuts… (optional) Directions: The night before, combine butter, honey, sugar, gf oats, and buttermilk in a bowl.  Soak overnight. This recipe is based on Crystal’s Lazy Granola.  It is easy and delicious. Gluten Free Lazy Granola Ingredients: 1 C brown sugar 1 C coconut oil 1 C honey 2 Tbsp cinnamon (we like cinnamon, so you may want to reduce this) 3 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp almond extract 13 C gluten free oats 2-3 C dried fruit (optional) 1-2 C nuts (optional) Directions: Mix brown sugar, oil, and honey in a small saucepan being to a low boil.  Once boiling, remove from heat.
