Visiting the Homestead

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

Except for the sunset, these are all pictures from when we were at the house prior to purchase. On Monday, we waited on pins and needles to see if the mortgage company would release the funding so we could close escrow. We didn’t want to pack up the trailer with things for the cabin if we wouldn’t be heading up there until later in the week. (At this point, we knew that we were definitely closing escrow, so it was just a matter of when it would happen.) As soon as we received word that the funding had gone through…

Our Future Homestead

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

Back in July, we went to look at a cabin in the woods that was for sale. You see, our dream was to one day own a log cabin on some property where we could homestead once D retired from the military. We had looked at a variety of properties over the years, but none of those properties felt right for us. As we drove to the location of the cabin, we grew excited as we loved the location. Upon arrival at the cabin and looking around, we knew that this was the place. We took some time to pray…

Testing for TaeKwonDo Yellow Belt

Posted in Family, Fitness, and Homeschooling

While Gramma and Grampa were here visiting, Munchkin had the opportunity to test for her TaeKwonDo yellow belt. She was nervous and excited all rolled up into one as testing day approached. We all (including Gramma and Grampa) headed over the dojang on Saturday morning. One by one the students who were testing went over their steps and forms, answered questions, and performed the tasks requested by the testing panel. When Munchkin’s turn came, I was allowed to enter the room to take pictures. (I had asked her prior to the testing if she was okay with me being in…

Parks and Rec: Introduction to Archery Class

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

On Saturday morning, Munchkin was still feeling under the weather, but she really wanted to at least try to make it through the archery class that we had scheduled through the local parks and recreation. She had been waiting for a couple of months to take this class, and she was rather excited about it. She’s be interested in archery for a while now, but I hadn’t been able to find anything that would allow her to try it out before making a commitment to it. When I found this one day class, I knew that it would give Munchkin…

A Visit with Gramma and Grampa

Posted in Family

I’ve been a bit scarce the last week and a half because my in-laws, aka Gramma and Grampa, were here visiting. We had a nice time of fellowship and fun. Gramma said she had a good time of relaxation and renewal thanks to being able to rest as needed. Gramma has health issues, and she really needed some down time. I’m thankful that she felt relaxed enough in our home to truly rest. It was a blessing to see her health get better during their time with us. Munchkin enjoyed the times when they were able to play some board…
