A Visit with Gramma and Grampa

I’ve been a bit scarce the last week and a half because my in-laws, aka Gramma and Grampa, were here visiting. We had a nice time of fellowship and fun. Gramma said she had a good time of relaxation and renewal thanks to being able to rest as needed. Gramma has health issues, and she really needed some down time. I’m thankful that she felt relaxed enough in our home to truly rest. It was a blessing to see her health get better during their time with us.

Munchkin enjoyed the times when they were able to play some board games, and we all had fun watching some movies together. There were long, deep conversations as well as silly, humorous banter taking place during their stay. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve seen them last, so we had some catching up to do.

Now, you’ll notice the lack of family pictures in this post because, well, I didn’t take any family pictures while they were here. I had planned on taking some before they left, but Munchkin woke up ill on Monday morning. She spent most of her time resting upstairs for the last couple of days they were here. On Wednesday, when they left, she was doing good just to make it downstairs to say goodbye to them. It was not a time to try to get pictures. Needless to say, I should have taken pictures earlier in their stay, but I didn’t.

D took time off work for the first week they were here. While he did get some work done on vehicles that needed to get done, he also took the opportunity to take his Dad on a little off-road adventure as well as over to the local historic prison. D enjoyed being able to spend some time with his Dad doing one of the things that he loves – riding his dirt bike. D road his dirt bike while his Dad drove my RZR (side-by-side). They were both hot and dusty when they returned. The visit to the prison was less dusty, but still hot. lol! While it is cooling down here, we’re still sitting over 100 degrees F most days.

At the beginning of this week, D headed back to work, and I found myself being a nurse to a sick child while spending time with Gramma and Grampa. It was a shame that Munchkin ended up sick at the end of their stay. I figure that it was bound to happen with all of the sick kiddos in her TaeKwonDo class, but hopefully, it will pass soon. She’s looking forward to her Introduction to Archery class on Saturday morning. Since it’s a one day event, it would be a real shame if she wasn’t feeling well.

As always, saying goodbye to family when they leave is never fun, but we’re happy that we were able to spend some good, quality time with them while they were here.
