Homeschooling has been a wonderful journey for us. That is not to say that there aren’t bad days, but the experience is rewarding in many ways. For us, homeschooling has allowed us the freedom to take time off whenever Daddy is able to be around. It allows us to take breaks when the military calls us to a new duty station or Daddy to training. I gives us the ability to live our lives as a family.
Our most important goal for Munchkin is to bring her up to know the Lord personally and love Him will all of her heart. Our secondary goal is to equip her with the knowledge that she will need to live a productive life.
Homeschooling always was interesting to me, but we didn’t decide to officially homeschool until Munchkin had attended Kindergarten. I learned everything that I could about homeschooling. I read books and researched on the internet. Then, I asked D if we could homeschool. He said that we could give it a try. We have never looked back.
As I said before, there are bad days when I just want to crawl back in bed and not even think about schoolwork. Yet, it’s often those type of days that we learn the most. Why? Because during those days, when I am at my weakest, the Lord steps in and gives me strength.
I think that is why this year of homeschooling has probably been one of our best years. I have had to heavily rely on the Lord during D’s absence. Through His wonderful grace and strength, I have watched Munchkin grow and learn by leaps and bounds. I have learned to trust in Him and myself. We’ve stepped out of the self-imposed boundaries and limitations and reached new heights.
“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul.” Psalm 136:3
You are so inspiring as a homeschooling mom. I know it has to be hard to homeschool and carry the full load as the leader of the family while you husband is away.
Thanks for sharing your story.

I agree, relying on the strength of the Lord is a MUST for me, too! When I am weak (which is soooo often!), then He is strong. Love that verse! Keeping following His guidance, He will continue to direct your path! 🙂
Nice to meet you! :^)
I love your blog and your verse choice — sometimes I think that school goes better when I’m dead tired and worn out, because then I’m trusting completely on the Lord!
Have a great week!
Thank you for sharing about your Homeschool Journey! I am starting back to teaching my children at home after a few years off, and I know that I cannot do this in my own strength! I know that I will have to lean heavily on the Lord in order to make it through the year. Thank you so much for your encouraging words!

Thanks for sharing your story and I thank your family for service to our country. I love your last line about “stepping out of the self-imposed boundaries and limitations”. Why do we do that to ourselves? LOL

What wonderful goals you have your little munchkin!! Praying you have a wonderful school year. Oh and I love the lap book, too. 🙂
I am going to enjoy reading more of your blog. We have so much in common. We both are married to Military men, we both have one dear daughter and we both love the Lord with all our hearts, of ya, we both belong to Blogger Friend School. I live in Canada. Nice meeting you.
I wholeheartedly agree with your statement that homeschooling “gives us the ability to live our lives as a family.” Esp for you, with a dh who can be gone weeks a time for training or even deployed for months and months at a time, time together for you when you can get it is vital. And hs’g helps make that happen.
Your lapbooks are beautiful…!
I love the appropriateness of your Bible verse. I hope you have a great school year.

Hi there. I loved your little lapbook on Farmer’s Boy. Where did you get the stuff for it? Did you make it all up on your own? How old is your Munchkin?
Carol

What an awesome entry. I completely agree with what you said about homeschooling “gives us the ability to live our lives as a family.” Being able to shift your class schedules around to spend time with daddy is such blessing.
I pray that God will place a hedge of protection around your DH and all those who serve for our country!
Blessings~

Ugh I am having one of those type of days today. It is so hard when no one wants to learn. Its easier to hang in the towel and take a nap. lol Thats how bad today was but I can see how God works in my life and I know I have to keep going.
Thanks for the great post

What a great story. As a beginner, thank you for your comment about there being days we just want to crawl back into bed but those are the days you learn the most! I needed the reminder that when we are weak, HE IS STRONG! Especially as these past few weeks I have been feeling very weak and tired. Thank you!
What a great post! I enjoyed reading it!
