As winter turns to spring, we like to move our schooling outside, weather permitting. Sometimes that just means doing our normal schoolwork outside, and other times it means taking a different approach to schooling. We do more hands on science activities. That could mean nature walks, bird studies, flower studies, tree studies, or even garden studies. History? Well, we’re fortunate to live in a very history rich area. History is all around us. Want to learn more about colonial times? We can head to Historic Williamsburg, Jamestown, or Yorktown. Want to learn more about the Civil War? Visit one of the many Civil War battlefields.
So, today, we are outside working on math, grammar, spelling. She’s studying the birds and listening to their calls. We’re enjoying God’s beautiful creation while expanding our knowledge. Sometimes just a little change in routine can help spark a new interest in schooling. Instead of experiencing burn out, we can experience a new love of learning.
