My Valentine

Another Valentine’s Day is here.  I delight in celebrating different holidays as it gives me another chance to do something a little extra for D and Munchkin.  This year, things are a bit different as I’ve been sick, so I don’t have any decorating done.  I have no plans for special meals or treats.  I definitely feel behind the curve today.

As I sit here typing, I’m thinking about what I might be able to do that won’t require much energy on my part, but will still show D and Munchkin how much I love them.  Obviously, we show love to each other every day, but it’s fun to do something unexpected for this special day revolving around love.

D is going to have a busy week, so I’m not sure how much he will be home today or rest of the week.  This means that I need to try to get some lunches made for him, so if he’s tight on time, he can just eat at work.  We’ve been enjoying having him home at lunch, but it’s difficult when he needs to come home on especially busy days.  It’s a labor of love.

Munchkin has already been displaying her love for us this past week by helping out around the house.  I want to do something to show her how much we appreciate her unselfish and giving attitude.  She is not doing things for thanks, but instead, because she genuinely wants to help.  It is this attitude that I want to encourage and reward.

Our Valentine’s Day will be more mellow than is the norm around here.  We didn’t do our normal crafting.  Yes, we still got a couple of things in, but for the most part that was put on the back burner.  Thankfully, Munchkin didn’t mind coming up with some of her own creations.  My “little” girl is growing up.  All too fast these special moments will fade away, so I want to take advantage of them now.

Munchkin decided that she wants to attempt to make some sweet treats for us today.  It will be interesting to see what she decides to do.

For now, I’m going to make sure I get a little something out to surprise my Valentines.  Maybe, just maybe, I’ll be able to put together a lunch for D.  We’ll have to see how I feel….

Have a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. Your daughter sounds much like my oldest daughter – a servant’s heart and desires to please God and her parents. Sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling well. Happy Valentine’s Day!
