Tickled Pink

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

It’s pretty bad when you get really excited about fixing something yourself. lol! Today, the house was quite chilly, but I didn’t think much of it as it was cold outside. I just plugged in the portable heater in the room that we were in.

Fast forward to bedtime… Munchkin heads to her room and it’s freezing. She complains that the vent is blowing out cold air. Ugh! I look at the thermostat and it reads 58 degrees. Um, I’m all for saving money on heating, but that’s a bit too cold. Munchkin’s room was even colder…

I figured that it was probably the pilot light on the furnace. The problem being that I’ve never dealt with a gas furnace and had no idea where the pilot light was. I definitely didn’t know how to relight it. I head to the internet, but that doesn’t help much other than confirming that it’s probably the pilot light.

Hmmm… I had put together a household book that had all of the books from the different appliances. Maybe the former owners left the book behind??? Yep, there it was the book for the furnace. After much ado, I finally re-lit the pilot light, and we have heat again. Ah, the simple joy that comes from successfully tackling something new.

Way to go. Isn’t it amazing what Women can do when we need to. I used to just cry when my dh was out to see and I had to fix something but that ended after the first year. Now it just comes as a second nature.
    You should be proud! 🙂
Have a blessed week friend … and stay warm.
