Today, the cool winds of fall started blowing and the tempertures began falling. As we sat inside, we were grateful for the warmth of the house. As we stepped outside to head to soccer practice, we were grateful for the warmth of our clothes. We watched as people shivered as they waited for the bus or walked to the store. We were grateful to be riding in our truck.
On the way to practice, we talked about the fact that we were missing D. We were grateful that we had been able to talk to him earlier in the day. He may be away from us, but he’s still with us. Unfortunatley, one little girl on Munchkin’s team can’t say the same thing. It reminds us that things may be rough, but there is always someone who has it worse.
Today, as I was reading, I came across this quote…
The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life. ~Robert Louis Stevenson
What a good reminder as we enter into this thanksgiving season. The Lord has provided us with many wonderful things in life; we need to make sure that we are truly grateful for these blessings.
