Sunday Blessings

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

This morning, Munchkin did not want to go along with the time change. I just wanted an extra hour of sleep, but alas, that was not to be. So, we got up and moving earlier than expected. Now, normally, this would be a good thing as we wouldn’t be rushed getting ready for church. Unfortunately, the extra time ended up being a hindrance for my little Munchkin as she kept putting off getting ready until we really were strapped for time. Then, she tried to put on her church shoes only to find out that somehow (in 2 weeks) they had gotten too small??? Well, she ended up wearing white sandals with heavy black tights. **sigh** By this point, my mood was not in a mode of worship.

I dropped Munchkin off at Sunday School and headed to my own class. I’ve only been to this class once before when D was home, so it’s all still quite new. I saw a few familiar faces from 2 weeks ago and many new faces. I tried to adjust my mood as we settled into the lesson. For some reason, this particular lesson just didn’t click with me, but the fellowship was a good thing. After class, I checked on Munchkin to make sure that she made it to Children’s Church on her own before heading over to the service. The music helped focus my attention to where it needed to be, but once again, the message (while good) just didn’t connect with me. It was just one of those weeks.

Now, if you’ve read this far, you’re probably wondering why I labeled this post Sunday blessings?? The blessings came as I got in the truck with Munchkin. Right now, she’s going through an adjustment to the new Sunday School and Children’s Church programs, so I never know how she’s going to respond. Today, she came out with a big smile when I picked her up.

In Sunday School, they were focusing on verses dealing with fear. That was a perfect thing for her this week. She was so excited about these new verses, and the fact that her Sunday School teacher and classmates were praying for her Daddy. Then, in Children’s Church, they were talking about the Armor of God, and they had lots of singing (which she loves). She also made a couple of friends which is very important to her.

So, my blessing was through Munchkin’s blessings today. This tone set a wonderful mood for the rest of the day. We had a great day of rest. We just enjoyed playing games and watching animal shows for most of the day. After putting her to bed, I started with the household chores as I didn’t want to take away from our day together. Munchkin went to bed with a huge smile on her face and in a happy mood.

Isn’t it amazing how the mood of our kids affects us? Glad your day ended well!
