Thankful Thursday: Gifts and Love

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

This week, I’ve been reading the 5 Languages of Love by Gary Chapman and the 5 Languages of Love for Children . We’re also working on discovering Munchkin’s gifts using Discover Your Children’s Gifts by Don & Katie Fortune.

Reading these books and doing some additional studies in the Bible has truly made me grateful that God made us all unique and that he gave us each a gift to better serve him and others.

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if an y man minister, let him do it as the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” I Peter 4:10-11

We also had the unexpected opportunity to fellowship with other homeschoolers this week. We decided (at the last minute) to head up to Colonial Williamsburg for their homeschool days. We ended up running into another family that we knew and were able to spend the day with them. It’s always good to have some fellowship with other believers who are also homeschoolers. The Lord is good.

Munchkin was also able to sleep much better on Tuesday night which was a real blessing. We’ve been saying special prayers each evening asking the Lord to be with her and drive out any fears that may come over her as she sleeps. This does really seem to help her.

Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.” Job 15:4

Last, but certainly not least, I am thankful for my Lord and Saviour. I am so very grateful that he also gave us his written word, the Bible, to guide us and give us hope.

O Praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 117

The Five Love Languages is a fantastic book. Recommeded for every adult man and woman.

Neat list. Something amazing about reading scriptures outloud when we feel fearful. It works. Thank you for a wonderful post on this TT.

It is wonderful that God did make us all so unique (even though it can be frustrating at times!!). I just read that 1 Peter passage in my quiet time this morning! Thanks for sharing your gratitudes today.
