This week’s tackle is an interesting tackle (at least for me).
Since we’re going gluten-free at our house, I need to go through the fridge, freezer, and pantry to pull all non-safe foods. Eventually, our whole house will be completely gluten-free, but for now, I need to move all that unsafe stuff out of the kitchen. D will then be able to grab whatever out of the fridge, freezer, or pantry and know that it’s safe. We’re doing whatever possible to make life easier for him.
I won’t be throwing out the food. It will just be relocated and eaten when he’s not around. We won’t bring in any more food with gluten in it, so this is an interesting learning experience.
In addition, I will need to locate the flours that I need to replace my current wheat flours. We also need to locate a “safe” cereal for D. (Feel free to let me know of any that aren’t going to break the bank.)
Another important thing that I will be doing is scrubbing down the whole kitchen as well as my cooking items. I hope not to have to replace all of my baking pans, so I’ll need to check things for scratches. The more I learn, the more I’m understanding how important it is not to have any cross contamination.
I’ll be checking out some other blogs of people that have been dealing with this for much longer than I as I know they’ll have some great ideas. If you have been gluten free (or know someone who is), please let me know so I can check out your blog.
Good luck with your tackle, I think I would be overwhelmed at this tackle. I am sure you will accomplish this with great success!
