Tackle It Tuesday: Closets

Whew! It’s hard to believe it’s that time of week again; time to post another tackle. I have to admit that this week’s tackle was a bit easier than the last couple of weeks (thankfully).

This week, I’ve been tackling re-doing some of the closets. They all need to be updated to meet our needs instead of the previous owner’s. So, without further ado…

The master bedroom before and after photos:

The master closet has matching plastic storage drawers on both sides that the previous owners left behind in the garage. The closet organizer was given to us by another freecycler (new in box), so I put it to good use. As you can see, we’re not actually moved in yet or there would be more clothes. lol!

Now, munchkin’s room did not have a closet area, so I’ve done something temporary in there using the shelving that I removed from some of the other closets. I would like to build an actual closet in her space in the future. It would be in this same area. The wall needs some touch-up paint now, that we moved the shelving and little “desk” that was in the space. The white “rolls” that you see on the ceiling are white matchstick blinds that we can roll down to cover the entire back wall area.

The spring dresses that you see hanging there are our thrift store finds. Please excuse the mess. It’s still a work in progress!!

Next, I’m transforming what use to be the coat closet into a game/linen closet. I took out the single shelf and hanging bar. I replaced them with adjustable shelves from another area in the house. Sorry about the fuzzy picture and poor angle. It was hard to get a good shot of the closet due to the location. It makes more sense for the linen closet to be here since it’s next to the bedrooms.

The final closet, which is what I need to tackle now, is the existing linen closet. It currently has 4 wood shelves. I will be turning that into the coat closet (which also stores the vacuum cleaner). That is right next to the living room/entryway. I will post an update on that later.

Wow; I’m impressed with all your energy! All that shuffling around at once would do me in! Looks like you’ve got it well under control, though, and have a great plan!

Good luck with the finishing touches!

    Wow! Great tackles!!

We have a major lack of closet space here. In fact, we only had TWO closets in the entire house when we moved in — one was in the upstairs hallway and one was in the attic. Five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and two closets. Crazy, huh? (Our house is an old bed and breakfast.)

Can’t wait to see your finished coat closet. Have fun!!

    Blessings!!

The closets look great! What you did in your little girl’s room was very inventive. My linen closet needs redone. You may have just given me the push I needed 🙂

You did an excellent job, Heather. Closet space is always tricky. I really need to update our closet too *sigh*…

I ***love*** the idea with the drop-down matchstick curtains! What a clever way to make a temporary “built-in” robe like that! FANTASTIC tackle! Thanks for stopping by 😉

Nice work! I recently created a closet where none existed in my house and it was the best thing I ever did… good luck with the evolving closet in your little girl’s room.
