Special thanks to the company for providing a sample product for me to test in my kitchen.

Priority Chef Potato Ricer

It’s no secret that I love my kitchen gadgets. While I can get by without all these fun things, they really do make my life much easier. Even though I am drawn to all kitchen tools, I try to limit myself to things that I know I’ll use as there is only so much space in the drawers/cabinets. For that reason, I had never tried a potato ricer even though I had seen them on different shows and thought they looked cool. Well, I finally decided that it was time to try one in my kitchen.

My thoughts? Why did I wait so long to try one of these? It is way cool and so easy to use! Making mashed potatoes when using a potato ricer is a breeze. Hash browns? No problem. No more grating required to get delicious, fast hash browns. My mind is already thinking of other ways to use this – cauliflower, squash, pumpkins, carrots…. Yep, I’m going to be having some fun with this.

Priority Chef Potato Ricer

The Priority Chef Potato Ricer is made of 18/10 stainless steel and features comfort grip handles. While it’s dishwasher safe, I found it best to just quickly wash it after use as it made getting the starchy potatoes out of the little holes quite easy.

To use it, you just boil your potatoes as usual, place the boiled potato cubes in the hopper, and press the potatoes. Because the handles are longer, you don’t have to apply a lot of force, but it’s definitely a two-hand operation. (My daughter is holding it with one hand above so you can see the entire unit.) The result is a beautiful riced potato that makes gorgeous, lump-free mashed potatoes. You can also turn those riced potatoes into some delicious hash browns.

The only down side to the potato ricer is the size, so storage can be an issue. If you have hooks, it does have a hole for hanging, so it doesn’t need to take up valuable drawer space.

As you can probably tell, I’m quite impressed with the Priority Chef Potato Ricer. It’s not only easy to use, but it’s also comfortable to use. It’s even easy to clean after use. The fact that they even thought of having the hole for hanging shows that the makers put thought into even the little details.

I plan on using my potato ricer for several dishes, including mashed potatoes, this Thanksgiving.
