Our Thoughts:

Coming Home For Christmas starts with flashback scenes showing a happy, healthy family that end at Melanie’s wedding when a confrontation between sisters Kate and Melanie leaves their relationship torn. Present day is five years after this event, and the family is now in tatters. When Kate learns of her parents’ separation, she decides to try to mend the bond with her sister and bring her family back together in time for Christmas.

There is some kissing in the movie, but it is overall a clean, family-friendly movie. While the movie is about the importance of family, it shows how dysfunctional families can be when they no longer communicate with each other.

As a Marine family, we were rather disappointed that the producers of the movie couldn’t do the minor amount of research needed to put a Marine uniform on a the Marine in the movie rather than using an Army uniform on a Marine. There was also an issue with the medals displayed and talked about in the movie. While this may not be an issue for most viewers, it was a mistake that could have easily been avoided with a little research.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly Christmas movie that focuses on family relationships, this could be the movie for you.
