It’s no secret that both my husband and I enjoy football, so this story immediately caught my attention – especially since you’re pulling for the underdog. This documentary of Jeremy Williams final season as head coach of the Greenville Patriots is inspirational. Even my daughter, who isn’t as into football as her parents, enjoyed the film although she could have done with a little less game footage. There are a number of “based on true story” films out there, but this documentary format, while not as polished, gave a real insight into the life of Jeremy and his family. As a family, his family faced the adversity of not only his illness but also the illness of their son. They relied on their faith, friends, and family to get them through the darker days and chose to keep a positive outlook on life. It truly is an uplifting story about the power of faith and perseverance. He lead his family and his team by example giving a powerful testimony of his faith in God.
The only critique that we had was that we would have liked to see a website mentioned that gave updated statuses on how Jeremy and his family are doing today. The bonus features included more insights into his life (past events as interviews with friends, family, players…), but after watching the movie, you can’t help but want to know how things are going for them now.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this dvd in hopes that I would write a review. A positive review was not expected nor guaranteed. All opinions are my own.
