Over the weekend, Daddy was able to finish up the roof on the stalls.
Right now, they are quite content being outside in the turnout area as they like to relax in the sun.
When summer comes, it will be nice for them to enjoy the shade a bit.
Their water and hay is in their stalls, so we leave the stalls open which allows them to come and go as they please. They also get fed their pellets and supplements in their stalls in the morning and at night. We only close them in their stalls if we need to do something in the arena, and we don’t want one of them trying to sneak out or if we don’t want them fighting over the pellets/supplements.
A week later, they are settling in nicely. They are eating slower now as they know they don’t have to fight the herd over the hay being put out. They can leisurely eat hay throughout the day and night. It’s definitely working for them.
Our new routine is working well for us, and the dogs are starting to get used to having the horses there. They are even protective of them, so if they hear the coyotes outside, they want to go chase them away. **grin**
