Recently, I was given the opportunity to be part of a review team for Biblical Reproductions. I hadn’t previously heard of the company, so I headed over to their website to check out their products. The first thing out of my mouth was “this is so cool!” And yes, I did actually say that out loud which caused Munchkin to look over to see what I was talking about. Her response upon seeing the products? “Look at all the cool history!”
Right now, we’re studying Biblical Archaeology, so we had fun looking over the various products. There are high dollar items such as reproductions of the Dead Sea Scrolls (pictured above) as well as lower dollar items such as the beautiful pieces of pottery (pictured below).
As I looked over the different products being offered, I found myself thinking that these would make wonderful learning tools as well as fun conversations pieces. There is something special about having reproductions of Biblical history. Not all of us will be able to travel to Israel to experience the culture and/or walk where Jesus walked, so being able to look physically look at reproductions of history is the next best thing.
One of the things that I noticed about the products being offered is that they each have interesting history attached to them. I love the idea of knowing where and how the original piece was found. Understanding our past history helps us get a better grasp on the teachings in the Bible because it lends us a helping hand in understanding the context in which something was being written.
I have to say that I’m very much looking forward to seeing which reproduction piece of history we will get to review as part of the team. Munchkin can’t wait to have this as part of her Biblical Archaeology class this year.
